Remington Arms is a renowned American firearms manufacturer with a rich history dating back to 1816. Founded by Eliphalet Remington in Ilion, New York, the company is one of the oldest gun makers in the United States and claims to be the oldest factory that still produces its original product.

Eliphalet Remington II, a skilled blacksmith, embarked on his journey in 1816, crafting flintlock rifles that caught the attention of his peers at a shooting match. His meticulously crafted firearms quickly gained popularity, leading him to officially establish his gunsmithing business. In 1828, Remington relocated his operation to Ilion, where the modern Remington firearms plant still stands today.

Remington, initially known as E. Remington and Sons after Remington's three sons joined in 1856, has left an indelible mark on American history. In 1845, it secured its first major government contract to manufacture 5,000 "Mississippi" rifles for the U.S. Army.
