Bear Kodiak Hunter Recurve Bow

Just got my Kodak Hunter 45#. Draws smooth and although I did not chronograph it, it appears to be at the top of the speed range. Beautiful bow but, mine had a noticeable blemish on the back of the limbs the whole length. No effect on function but shouldn't have left Bear like that. And no quiver bushings. Thought about giving a 4 but this is an outstanding production bow for the price. Highly recommended.

Thanks to Bear for bringing this classic bow back into production. For me this is the most versatile and attractive of all the Bear hunting recurves. The shedua riser with the phenolic stripe make for a handsome bow, as does the "arctic grey" limb colour BUT- why are there no riser bushings on this model? They were factory installed on my 2018 Super Kodiak and my 2021 Kodiak Magnum. This is still the best and most solid way to mount a bow quiver, which after all was invented by Fred Bear. Why were they not included in this model? AND why is the arrow shelf cut right down into the handle riser, leaving a sharp edge and an ugly square corner at the back of the shelf? The old versions had a thicker shelf that extended to the maple and glass laminations at the back of the bow, making for a thicker and sturdier shelf. It looks as if they are still using the old template, which had a straight arrow shelf, and simply rounding off the back end to achieve a radiused arrow rest, instead of building up the shelf on the template so that it could be done properly.
