Cold Steel President Lynn C. Thompson is an avid collector of wooden weaponry and ethnographic arms, and when he saw a beautiful example of a Ball Headed War Club made by custom Bladesmith Rich McDonald, he jumped at the chance to work with Rich to reproduce it for a modern audience. Cold Steels Indian War Club is injection molded from weatherproof high-impact polymer materials that are virtually impervious to impact. This material is highly resistant to the elements and won't warp, rot, crack or splinter like wooden versions. Each club is approximately 2 ft. long with a 3 1/4" diameter ball head, and fitted with a removable blunt steel stud. For historical re-enactors the surface has a realistic wood grain finish that can be easily painted and customized with brass studs, tacks, or feathers.

The club is big (bigger than a real club), heavy (mace like in balance) , and as others have mentioned the thumb size spike isn’t easily removable ( heat and locking pliers ). That being said, it is a formidable piece of plastic and steel. Used with a two handed grip, it would easily be lethal. As a novel representation of a Ball headed war club, it’s great! As a self defense tool, look for something lighter.
Powerful item. Expect the "spike" to break off first use like it did again this second time I purchased one (double-price now). They need to go back to the flat metal disc that was originally on it. I feel slightly cheated! My opponent won't.
War Club is excellent in material and design. Only con is that it is way too heavy.
This club is much heavier than I remember. Balance is great and awesome looking..actually quite fearsome. If you're looking for a defense weapon, this thing is a crusher.
I purchased this war club about 3 years ago. And it is still fully functional in every way. The spike is removed by simply unscrewing it from the ball. I also painted it to give it a natural look.
I got one a little while ago and it's the later version with the long spike, I have been waiting till I get one of my own for reenactment and to collect it given my heritage. But I had heard that it was possible to remove the spike or that it was permanent. Either way I'm happy that I bought it and I finally have one and it has a decent weight. Pretty sure anything that would beset me or my dogs on a walk would soon change their mind haha. But I was hoping to somehow remove the spike so that I can carry it around without worry of harming myself or objects that don't need to be harmed accidentally.
Nice quality. I got it for my son, he lives it. He busted an old wood chair with one swing.
This thing is wicked!!! It also lighter than u would think.
Nice piece for the money. Takes a little bit getting used to but definitely better than a baseball bat. Fun to play around with. No regrets with this one.
