Cold Steel Recon 1 Magnacut - Black, Ambidextrous, Manual

This is a 5 star knife. The problem lies with how this blade is advertised on the Cold Steel website. It is listed as an Atlas lock. It is not. It is a triad lock. It says it on the box it was in. This knife is hefty and solid. The grip is fantastic. Still not an Atlas lock.

My example arrived with superb QC: centered blade, sharp even grinds, smooth action, no pivot lash and a triad lockbar that fully seats when the blade is deployed. I mention these because I have owned many previous variants in S35VN and XHP and it was not uncommon to have QC issues. Being made in Italy is a nice feature as well (like my 4Max). Price is worth given the quality example I received, country of origin, and upgraded steel. I do love a good hollow grind, but the FFG works well and compliments the hard use design of the Recon 1.

Bought the Recon M1 in magnacut (Italy). Excellent quality of work. Great addition to my fixed blade collection. Can't wait to see it work in the field.

The Taiwan made black bladed model is of a better quality than the Italian satin bladed version.

Great knife. Surprisingly bigger and more robust..not a bad thing a great thing. Who wants a tiny REMF knife? Definitely a warriors blade...gantastic quality a durability and wicked sharp.

It’s a great knife. The satin version is awesome. The only problem is that the action is so tight. The should have made it smooth like the AD 10 or the 4Max Scout. Both with triad locks. I like the thicker handle, very ergonomic like the Recon 1. I hope in the future they keep production in Taiwan. Overall it’s a beast of a knife, haven’t had time yet to really test the MagnaCut. Hopefully Cold Steel bring more knifes out in this steel, and the new version Magnamax.

This knife feels like it can handle anything I can possibly throw at it. The blade is beautiful and razor sharp. The handle/scales are grippy keeping it secure in your hand even if you have sweaty hands. My only gripe with it is how rough the action was out of the box. It took lots of CLP and tons of open-close exercises to smooth out the action.

I absolutely love that knife. I found it easy to open/close, its extremely sharp, and enjoyable to hold. Top quality. I'll be getting more, to be sure.
