Description
Weighing in at 2.17 lb., Morini's next electronic-trigger, PCP competition-grade .177-cal pistol is about 1.25 oz. lighter than its predecessor, thanks to a redesigned barrel and compensator, along with numerous carbon-fiber components and lighter-weight electronics.
The Morini CM 200EI is outfitted with a polygonally rifled, EDM (electrical discharge machine) ventilated Lothar Walther barrel with a carbon-fiber shroud running its entire length. A shorter compensator and a carbon-fiber grip insert also help shave the grams, enhancing shooter comfort and performance. It uses one CR2-3v battery (not included), as opposed to two AA cells, as in previous models. The manufacturer reports a fresh battery will provide up to 35,000 shots.
The CM 200EI features a redesigned, carbon-fiber cocking lever, replacing the bolt action found on previous models. The two included, 200 BAR (2,900 psi) air cylinders included with the pistol now feature digital manometers and the automatic shut-off conserves battery power if the pistol is inadvertently left on without being fired. There is also a training mode for newer shooters.
Each Morini CM 200EI air pistol ships with XX Small, X Small, Small, Medium, or Large-sized wooden Morini grips with adjustable palm shelf for a custom fit in either left- or right-handed orientation. The gun also includes a small tool kit and adjustment screwdriver, fill probe and degasser. It all ships in a hard-sided case lined with a red, plush lining molded to form-fit the pistol and all included accessories.

This pretty much sums up all of the latest advances in 10-meter air pistol shooting. The trigger was already set exactly where I like it, I just needed to adjust the sights a little. Being able to dry fire so effortlessly is an excellent training aid. The digital manometers on he air cylinders take all of the guesswork of how many shots remain on the charge. I think this is the first pistol where I didn't need to adjust anything to fit my hand properly. Of course, with 50 year experience in grip manufacturing, one wouldn't expect less from Morini. It doesn't feature a compensation piston like some other air pistols I've owned, but accuracy remains excellent and I was able to reproduce the factory test target the first time firing from a bench rest. Battery installation is easy, and both air cylinders were furnished with batteries already installed. The overal lighter weight makes extended shooting sessions much easier.
Things I Would Have ChangedRemoving the carbon fiber panel from the side of the grip can be a bit cumbersome, but after grinding a small scallop on the underside of the panel it comes off easily using a small plastic cuticle pusher. Now, there's no chance of scratching anything when accessing the circuit board.
What Others Should KnowThis was special ordered and it actually came in much earlier than expected. Sales representative Rhonda was fantastic from the time I placed the order to delivery.
