TenPoint TRX Ultra Crossbow

The safety features...cocking, decocking, cocking and decocking with the brake, anti dry fire, speed and power.

This is a heavy crossbow. I assume it is that heavy to afford the speed and safety issues it has. If there was a way to make it a pound less heavy.

I went hunting at my place in the mountains. I sighted it in at 20, 40, and 60 yards AFTER I had sighted it in originally in the North Texas town outside Anna. I only saw squirrels and coyotes the first 2 days. My property backs up to the national forest. On a Sunday, I was resting to take a nap. My wife had gone to Taos, NM to get groceries. My two Boston Terrorists started barking like crazy. I looked out the back door and there he was lying down eating his lunch under a tree 60 yards away, a BUCK MULE DEER. I went down stairs to the garage. Cocked the TRX Ultra and inserted an arrow. Ranged the shot at 60 yards shooting from the stairs from the house outside to the garage and let the arrow fly. I only had a white wife beater shirt on, blue gym shorts and no shoes. The hit was solid, but because he wasn't standing, not a perfect shot. I recocked the bow and inserted another arrow. This review is based on the unboxing and setting up only as I am recovering from hip surgery and haven’t been able to send an arrow (bolt) down range. First impressions: The bow seemed a little heavy, reading the owner’s manual left the impression that the bow is a bit complicated, the quiver/cranking handle bracket seems to be somewhat awkward for carrying the bow with a shoulder strap, as well as concerns about losing the cranking handle while walking to a stand. More to come after firing a few bolts.

I researched this crossbow for several months before ‘pulling the trigger’ and purchasing. It is extremely fast and accurate. I had to buy the BigShot 650 TenPoint target as the bolts blasted through my current target at 30 yards! The Vision scope is a little more complicated than I thought, but the instructional videos helped me get it zeroed in. I should have went with the traditional scope that comes with the TRX Ultra. With deer season coming up in PA, the proof will be in the pudding.

Super nice unit. I ordered the green version which is really nice. Can’t say enough about the vision scope, truly impressive. Expensive bow but very well made!

TRX 515. My first crossbow. Impressed with its speed and accuracy. But the most important part to me is the safety. At 75 years old, I cannot draw a bow anymore and needed a crossbow that cocks AND decocks safely. This is the one.

This is my 4th Tenpoint. I just can't see them making one better! Best of both worlds, Power and Accuracy...If you are passionate about hunting you should only use the best, so use Tenpoint!

Excellent Crossbow! Easy to load. I have 4 tenpoint crossbows, and none have disappointed. The reason this one is the best is because the other ones, you always have to make sure the safety is on fire when you load it. The Ultra, you don’t. Accuracy is excellent too. Definitely recommend this crossbow.
