4 of 4 Trophy Ridge Whisker Biscuit V-Plus Reviews

Started to tear up fletching. It also wouldn't hold arrow up when using a heavier set up. Replaced it.

Came on my Paraxox RTH. Lost a whisker wedge within a day of shooting arrows through it. Does not have the rubber protectors the other two models have and is all plastic. Does its job if it remains intact. Just spend the money and get the VMax.

After shooting this for a while, I have several issues with it. First the way you have to replace the bristles is obnoxious. You have to at lease loosen the windage adjustment considerably, so good bye tune, in order to get the bristles out and replace them. The housing that holds the bristles is split the entire length through the windage adjustment. So while it looks like loosening/removing 4 screws on the face should allow access to the bristles, it does not and you have to loosen/remove the windage adjustment screw also. If this is not necessary, finding instructions on how to change the bristles is impossible (not in the instruction manual page of this website). So changing the bristles is not fast and easy as it will require you to completely reset the rest (because you had to take it off to make the change). For a consumable part such as the bristles, this should be accounted for. You know they will need a change, design them to be changed without fully removing the rest from the bow. Bad design. Second, the v design is flawed in that it puts more contact/friction on the lower 2 vanes than the upper vane because more of the vane passes throu the lower bristles upon which the arrow rests. For a standard (. 246) arrow, only . 67 to . 8 of the upper vane passes through the upper bristles while the entire vane to where it contacts the shaft passes through the lower bristles. This issue is exacerbated using small or micro diameter arrows. This will change how the vanes flex/react as they pass through and given that one vane is doing something different than the other two, this will adversely affect arrow flight. Also there is more resistance on the bottom of the arrow than the top, which who knows (physics nerds) how that will affect the arrow flight (my guess is some arrow butt wobble). Sure, you can tune to it somewhat, but the uneven wear of the vanes will eventually change the effect it has on arrow flight. This rest will make tuning your arrows and bow more difficult and less stable over time. So while I like the simplicity and seemingly robust idea of this rest, its flawed design has proven to actually introduce far more complications amd variables to my tuning process thay I have to fight with. Nice idea, poor execution. Maybe I'll try the Saunders arrow gate or go back to a round biscuit.
