In general (I've only had the rifle for a week now), is its overall handling characteristics and "shootability".

Eliminate the 0.100" gap between the end of the receiver and the stock. My HW77 exhibits no gap there at all and my HW80 exhibits a gap of about 0.050", so not quite as noticeable.

I have a 25 yard shooting range set up in my back yard with my shooting bench on the deck. Before purchasing the HW50S in .177 caliber my only two air rifles were a 40 year old HW77 in .177 caliber and a 5 year old HW80 in .22 caliber, both set up with large target scopes, heavy duty scope mounts, and slings, and weighing in at 10lb8oz and 10lb 12oz respectively. I wanted something for plinking and ridding the garden of pests that was a little more backyard and neighbor friendly. I spent a lot of time drooling over an HW50 back in my early teens, so after 55 years of waiting I finally purchased one, better late than never. Wow! - What a difference 3 pounds can make, set up with a standard size 4x32AO scope and rings, the gun tips the scales at exactly 7lb8oz, It's like handling a full size .22 LR or a light weight deer rifle, the difference is night and day. The very first shot fired with this rifle was .50" right and .25" high of point of aim at 25 yards; just icing on the cake.

Fit and finish. Accuracy. Very easy to shoot. Not pellet picky. The open sights superb.

Nothing.

I got this rifle to primarily shoot with the open sights. It's very easy to shoot and the accuracy is consistent. I'm able to put 5 shots in a quarter sized group from 20yards with the open sights regularly. I'm very pleased with it. If you're on the fence for whatever reason just get it. You won't be disappointed.

This is a precise engineered masterpiece. Everything on the rifle oozes perfection. The bluing is deep and beautiful, the wood is finished nicely, and the gun will put pellets through the same hole. I shot 8 different pellets through the rifle ranging from cheap Crosman to expensive JSB and all of them shot incredible.

I wouldn't change a thing, but I would like if the gun was offered as an option in a walnut stock.

If you have never owned a Weihrauch then you are missing out. Yes they are expensive but once you own one you will know the price is justified. There is nothing you really need to do other than clean the barrel and check the screws before shooting. You may smell a little oil and the gun may be a little loud for the first several shots and that is normal. Once you start shooting you will see how crazy accurate this gun is. The more you shoot it the better the gun will get. The spring will settle in and the shot cycle will get smoother and smoother. Also you will continue to be amazed as the accuracy will also improve. People buy two or three Gamo rifles that wear out and shoot with a rough twangy cycle when instead they should just buy one good rifle. The Weihrauch will outlast you and it will be handed down to your kids. They are called heirloom rifles for a reason.

Ran this over my new chrono. RWS 11.9 are 656 FPS, JSB 13.4 are 606 FPS, H&N 14.66 are 591 FPS. Comes out to about 11.4 FPE. After 6 weeks accuracy has only gotten better and shot cycle is smoother.

beautiful rifle, superb fit and finish

fiber optic sight option would be nice for hunting, the sights are more for target shooting

put a bugbuster on it and have fun

Totally newbie, what is a "bugbuster"?

Overall quality and accuracy.

The stock is really not for a scope shooter. It drops too much. Probably ok for iron sights.

The fit is quite nice! It's clearly machined better than lower-end, cheaper manufacturers. The weight is perfect and reminds me of your grandpa's little single shot .22; light enough to be comfortable, but not too light that it'd difficult to keep on target. The trigger is very good, although I wouldn't say it's excellent. There is no clean 2nd stage wall. Just a little slop in it, but certainly a huge improvement over most airgun triggers. The stock is beautiful, too! As for accuracy, Barracuda Match in 5.52 head size seem to perform best. Minus a flyer here and there, I had a number of groups at 40 yards just a hair over 1/4".

Blueing is bordering on amateur. I've seen better blueing on hundred-year-old milsurp rifles. The one I received should have been marked as a blem, and it's shocking to think Weihrauch would have allowed this one to leave their factory. Not impressed in the slightest with the finish. Cocking effort is excessive for such a low-powered .177 springer as well. I have "magnum" springers that are significantly easier to cock that won't wear you out after an hour. It's a matter of leverage I'm sure, so there isn't much that could be done if the goal is to keep the rifle short and handy.

Assuming you don't get a blemished rifle and you're skipping arm day at the gym, this is a nice rifle. But at its current price ($420), I wouldn't recommend it. I would have been fine spending $300 on it with the lousy blueing, but I definitely pulled the short straw for a high price.
If you do find one on sale, grab one. $325 would be fair. And if you don't have a way to run a few patches through the bore, grab a pull-through bore cleaner too. The barrel of mine was horrendous and it would not group without a few dozen patches through it first.

Update: A confirmation of the lousy bluing on this rifle. No amount of oil seems to keep rust off the gun. I have black powder guns that are easier to maintain in the dead of a humid summer. I incorrectly assumed when I received the rifle that it was more of a cosmetic issue, and that was absolutely a mistake on my part.
