10 of 13 Frankford Rotary Tumbler Reviews

I received this tumbler and the rotary case separator this week. I have used a vibratory tumbler and walnut shells for over 30 years...works but the cases never get that spiffy. This unit with the stainless steel pins are a comparative miracle. Couple of hours while I'm watching football does a batch very well. Been cleaning all my cases and will be starting out again with as-new brass. WELL worth the investment. This size tumbler is all I need; can do a batch of hundreds at a time. Thanks Frankford Arsenal!

I bought the european version, bad idea. The motor is too weak. With 200 38SP cases, a handful of pins and half water, the motor overheats and stops after 8 minutes. I really enjoyed the 7l platinum one but this model is a waste of money.

When I first started loading, I used an ultrasonic. This didn't quite get the job done. The difference was like merely hosing off your dirty truck, vs. using a soapy wash mitt. We need that mild abrasive action to knock the carbon off. Since I have a tiny reloading space, this little tumbler was a perfect addition. I haven't had any of the issues mentioned in other reviews. My brass actually tumbles, even though it LOOKS like, through the clear cap, they're just sliding along the bottom. All pieces make their way over the tumbling ridges many times. For those having troubles with lack of traction on the wheels... Try putting a large rubber band around either the barrel, or the wheels. A built in timer would have been nice, but a Xmas tree light timer gets it done. If you can catch these on sale...GREAT bang for buck, must-have reloading tool right here! Word to the wise... Using the typical recipe of dish soap and citric acid, I've been rewarded with 1000's and 1000's of bright shiny pieces of brass. From .380 auto to 308 Winchester. Don't let your brass sit in the solution for more than 3 hours without rinsing! The citric acid has a bad habit of stripping the zinc out of the brass, resulting in a reddish tint from the copper in the alloy. Not sure how this affects the structural integrity, but bright yellow is the goal. Be sure to set an audible timer as a reminder to get them out of their acidic bath.

I tumble mostly pistol brass. Small to medium batches in the 250 to 500 range. I use 3 squirts of Dawn, 1/2 tsp of LemiShine, 2.5 lbs stainless pins. 3 hours and it's all pristine. I have read so many saying it doesn't work. My experience is not the same as theirs. It takes blackened brass to factory shiny for me. I have found that under-loading and over-loading does make it only do OK. Too much weight strains the motor. Too little weight and it can't get traction. It's a balance, but for the price, I can't complain. Could it be better? Yes. Is it still worth the price? Yes. A rubberized interior would make it perfect. *Picture is once fired Winchester 5.56 NATO tumbled 3 hours in Tumbler Lite and 30 mins in corncob media to polish.

I have it and it cleans my brass like new. Be sure to load the tub full. And it will tumble good.

Got it for small loades but doesn’t clean with only 75 9mm and steel pins. Was told you need 150plus to be able for brass to tumble and clean. No rubber inside like the big one.

This is my second year for cleaning my 9mm brass with the LITE. I put in 650 cases which is about 1/2 capacity, add enough hot water to be 1" over the cases, a cap full of auto wash and wax, and 1/4 teaspoon of Lemi Shine. I let it tumble for 90 min. then rinse and dry, using a food dehydrator and I've got 650 little beauties. I wholeheartedly recommend this product.

I purchased this unit as I wanted to do some wet tumbling, I never do large batches so the size is perfect and it works just fine

I bought this over a year ago after using a small harbor freight tumbler and i was very impress at the amount of brass i could clean compared to the HF tumbler. Great investment.

I got this about a year ago and it has cleaned and polished thousands of rounds of both hand gun and rifle brass and they all come out beautiful. I am not only completely satisfied but also proud of the reloads I'm producing for my children, grand children, great grand children, and a few friends.
