Lockdown Silica Gel

This is a great alternative or addition the the golden rod. Moisture control is paramount to keeping safes regulated and guns maintained through long term storage.

At first didn't work great and had to recharge very often. However, I recently resealed the door with new insulating tape and works much better for much longer indicating the door just wasn't sealed well. Outside humidity is 80% on a regular basis. Inside safe is 45% with two of these inside. Very happy with it.

An outstanding dehumidifier for the price. I wish i got these earlier. Great for my safe and all round very good quality item.

This is a great product. Simple, cost efficient and very good at doing its job.

Seems to work well but it also seemed that the color changed fairly quickly even though the Hydrometer in my safe said it was still fairly dry inside the safe. Also it took longer than I expected in the oven for the crystals to change back to gold fully

Once it has reached its limit of moisture you recharge it and stat over.

This is exactly what I was looking for, rechargeable silica gel! Having just purchased it, I’m not sure how well it does in the long term, but my past experience with a similar item was very good! My last one was a smaller container used in a tool case that was brought in an out of cold weather, and my tools used to get rusty. I recharged in the oven whenever the indicator started turning, and my tools stayed rust free!

About 2 weeks after I bought on of these, we were hit by a storm that dropped 3 inches of water on our house in 2 hours. My basement has only been wet 3 times in 20 years, and one of those times, it was my fault (plumbing mishap). Anyway, my shooting buddy was hit by the same storm, and he took on water too. Well, all I'll say is I didn't get a single rust spot on my collection, and he had quite a bit of cleaning to do. He didn't have one of these. He does now. The gel absorbed so much moisture it turned almost black. A few hours in the oven, and it was back to yellow. Get one of these, you won't regret it. (get the meter too)
