The Cold Steel Trail Boss is compact enough to carry all day in your hand or strapped to your pack, yet tough enough for chores that would make a hatchet or tomahawk scream for mercy. Featuring a European style head with a 4" blade and a 4 1/2" cutting edge, it takes a big bite with every swing. Plus, it features a very sturdy, durable straight-grained American Hickory handle. In our extensive field-tests in the outback of Australia, the Trail Boss was used to chop kindling, clear roads and trails, to build blinds and even to chop down a fair sized tree!

Well balanced. Quality axe steel. This is my go to axe for 90% of “axe stuff”!
Love this axe so much. I process 10 chords of firewood per year and needed something to split kindling. It came very sharp and the handle fit was pretty good too. I have split some large logs with this and put it through more than what I intend to use it for and it has worked excellent! I am tempted to buy another. Great job Cold Steel
Bought in 2017, handle broke in 2024 and I used it to csmp at least once a year. Great axe. I'm looking for a handle do they sell extra handles separately?
I have had this axe for almost 5 years now. It stays on my atv. if I need a axe to drop a tree limb it and split fire wood this is the axe. It’s a perfect weight. Has very good edge retention. So it stays sharp longer.
Very satisfied with the Trail Boss. I purchased it as a multi function axe. I use it for felling trees as well as chopping ice out of water tanks. It came sharp enought to cit down a 10 inch black cherry tree after chopping 3 iches of ice out of a cattle tank. Well made, solidly built and sharp!
It chops through wood so easily, I was amazed. I would recommend to anyone. I might just go get another one to take on hiking trips.
Almost perfect axe. Only thing I did when I got mine is sand the clear coat off the handle and oil it. Then reprofile the edge with a file. Now it's my go to axe for just about anything.
This axe just makes sense. It’s truly just a perfect axe to have in your collection. At the price you can’t beat it. If you don’t believe me look what PROHO says on it on YouTube. Wish the color wasn’t as light when I first got it till I had to find it in the dark next to the camp fire. 10/10 must have.
The reason i bought cold steel is because they've got a good reputation. This axe head is nice, sharpens well and I'm hoping it stays in place, due to other reviews not having a lot of confidence in it. I really wish they had more creativity with the handle... it's like something you'd buy off the shelf at your local hardware store. I suppose you get what you pay for.
