This thing is absolutely beefy despite its slim profile. Very sleek, attractive design, and could pack a serious wallop with either end of the stick. Definitely a weapon. Unfortunately, the pistol grip shape is unexpectedly awkward, and makes it quite difficult to walk with for an extended period of time. My instinct is to grab onto it like a handle, but it's too small to really hold on to, which puts a lot more tension on certain digits. By the end of a walk to the store, my index finger is aching up a storm. Really too bad in my case, because I wanted something that works well to carry around all the time, and I love everything else about it. Wish I'd gotten the ordinary city stick which would probably allow me to more evenly distribute the tension throughout my fingers.

The Cold Steel Pistol Grip City Stick is one of my favorite canes/walking sticks of all time. The cane shaft is extraordinarily strong but does chip if accidentally dropped onto rocks, as I have done. The head of the cane is made from nicely polished aluminum that, over time, scratches and loses the mirror finish. Carrying this thing gives you the confidence to know that if you can swing it hard enough, you can defend yourself easily. If you need the cane to propel you and take more of your weight, then cut it to size so the head of the cane lines up with your wrist line. If you need the cane for balance and extra support, do not cut it to size as you maintain the structural integrity this way. I threw a second, bigger, and sturdier rubber tip over the tip that comes with the cane, and it works perfectly as I would not recommend using the tip that comes with it since it's small, slippery, and reduces none of the kinetic energy from constant impact on the ground.

I'm ordering my 7th City Stick today. I am a Disabled Viet Nam Veteran and my two youngest sons gave me my first one for my 50th birthday after a knee replacement. I have bought the others and given some to other disabled Veterans so they would have a cane capable of better performance, especially under duress (lol). I Cary my cane when I play Santa for kids (of all ages) Can't say enough for my City Stick. If anything would improve my stick it would be maybe adding an inch or two of length.

Got to be the second best Walking stick on the planet. it’s easier to use than the city stick, but the cities stick if used daily increases articulation of your fingers for longevity of old age. The pistol grip is definitely the best self-defense weapon that can get you out of any jam even walking down the street with it. It’s a deterrent from theft and attack.

I have several versions of city stick, 3 skull ( which i dont like as much due to excessive weight of skull), 2 opera style and the single pistol grip here...I like them all but have mainly chose pistol grip...i do use a cane lightly but even so it can become a bit uncomfortable afrer a while,,of course this isnt a true medical use can and is meant for very light balance and I accept that to not have to use and old man style can....I definatly feel a bit safer when i have this..even tho I am still young and in pretty high level athletic shape I cant exactly run as fast as I used to due to permanent leg injury....I am 6ft 185lbs and I cut cane to length i prefer for my purposes and have high quality rubber tips...I also epoxied the head in place so i dont ha e to deal with it unscrewing over time.. I see this now comes as aluminum head( as well as the opera style i think,or maybe micarta) and a part of me would have like those for reduced head weight but then again aluminum has lower stress fracture strength then aluminum so I guess good and bad to both metals...this with a micarta would have been nice...since I have several of city sticks I may even just make my own handle at some point...only real weakness is fact that only thing holding head to shaft is thin machine screw ,but even it that broke the shaft should hold up if needed..basic light cane use should never cause any breakage...i like this handle because skull one comes across a bit costumey and the opera seems a bit like your a magician or going to tuxedo wedding, so pistol grip is in between enough to look cool and still be bit useable for very light balance...one thing i did was put heavy duty shrink tube over the shaft to protect fiberglass shaft and give better grip if i am just carrying the cane..
