Frankford Media Transfer Magnet

I used to keep a small magnet handy to pick up pins that escaped when I rinsed brass, it was never there when I needed it. Thus I decided I'd go with something bigger and more visible. As it turns out it was much more useful than I imagined. It's pretty simple, a magnet. The handle is spring loaded so when you retract it, it pulls the magnet away from the bottom and releases whatever is attached to it. It works equals well for one pin as it does for thousands. The cap over the magnet is aluminum so there is zero residual magnetism to retain even the smallest objects like grit, shavings etc. What I didn't realize was how much brass shavings, stray primers & primer anvils and other debris gets left behind with the pins. Especially after thousands of rounds being cleaned. The transfer magnet allows you to pick up the pins and drop them in the tumbler barrel leaving behind all the brass shavings and other grime. And depending on what separator you use, it can potentially keep you from dealing with spilled pins when transferring them back to the tumbler barrel. A simple but overlooked tool you don't know you need until you use it.

I bought this to use to separate those pesky tiny pins from the newly cleaned (oh, so shiny) brass like others have done. It does a great job of that as others have attested to. I place a quart baggy over the end of it to be sure that my magnet stays clean and dry. Works great. Also use in the case sorting job. Just pass it slowly over suspected steel cases and they will jump up to the magnet, so they can be easily thrown away!! Works every time. I am doubly pleased with this product.

I bought this to pick up pins from wet media as well as the strays that tend to bounce out when cleaning the cases after tumbling. It works very well. It's not water-tight, so I wouldn't suggest submerging it. If submerged, I'd expect the internals to rust over time, but I don't see a good reason to get it that wet. I am very pleased with the quality and value of this product. I have already recommended it to several friends. I would add this to your kit if you wet tumble. It is, by far, the easiest way to deal with the tiny pins used.

Makes pulling wet media from cleaning solution easy. It's not water right which doesn't affect function but make sure that whatever surface to put it down on after use has a towel on it as this will drop water until it's empty. Wasn't a deal breaker for me which is why I still have it five stars. The handle pulls up nicely to drop the media onto my drying tray.
