Frankford Perfect Seat Hand Primer

For an item that is suppose to be precise there is way to much play in the shell holders and not a good one for a 28 Nosler. Very Disappointing

I do my 9mm, .357M, 5.56, .300 BK, & .458 SOCOM priming on my Hornady progressive "bullet machine", which seats primers flawlessly. I very carefully load my 6.5 CM and .30-06 on my RCBS Rebel one at a time, for precision loads. I purchased this hand primer thinking I could prime my 6.5 CM and .30-06 shells while in my house. (My reloading bench is in the garage, and my man-cave lacks AC). This hand primer is well built and is solid-metal-heavy, but is s - l - o - w when you consider the time spent fixing misfeeds. Way worse than the manual speed (which I'm OK with) is that it doesn't feed primers consistently. I have found it's best to squeeze the handle enough to visually make sure the primer is correctly aligned BEFORE loading the brass. I have had many primers load in sideways, and if forced into a case pocket, it is more than a loss of expensive Lapua brass and a competition-quality primer; it is a waste of valuable time and serenity. The primer misfeed now becomes stuck in the shell holder until you dig it out with needle-nose pliers through the hole in the bottom primer hole of the shell holder. I can't do any more "hand-primering" until the brass holder is freed. If it's really stuck, I've had to crush the brass (with already ruined pocket) in a vise to hold it securely while I remove the dampened (thus no bang) primer. This is a design flaw that is worked around by manually checking the primer position before loading the case into this gadget. Frankford Arsenal, please sell replacement shell folders. I would be happy to buy extras so I could just throw them away with the stuck brass.

Does not work well for small rifle primers! Jams and locks up about every other primer.

I have owned this tool for over a year now and love it. I had an RCBS hand priming tool previous which I also loved but wanted a tool that could be adjusted to bottom out at the end of the stroke. The FA was my choice. The only criticism I have so far is that some of the parts are cheaply finished, mainly being the priming pin sleeves and the “piston” (the black rod piece on the inside of the tool). These are very roughly finished and the tool felt “grainy” when I first started using it until I stripped the whole tool down and polished these parts up with fine sand paper and metal polish. A bit disappointing given the rest of the tool is made from smooth stainless steel. This finish on the priming pin sleeve also mean that the shell holders when not sitting concentric to the rest of the tool. An easy fix but one that FA should look at fixing in the future.

Poor quality. Will not properly align case to allow priming, have to pull case out of holder a bit. Primers will go into tool using tray. Using Lee holders makes it work a little better.

I have two of these items due to one not feeding any longer. With the second unit I started getting high primers and light strikes. I switched the #19 dye from the old unit and the problem was solved. I measured the two dyes and found a significant difference.

I have had this for about 3 months and 400 +/- reloaded rounds and love it. I had no issue with the other hand primer, except for the lack of ability to seat consistently. The FA Perfect seat is great and repeatable. Wish I had it from the start.

I bought this tool three weeks ago and have primed several hundred cases using the tool. It is well made, easy to change shell holders and swap between large primers and small. The only criticism I have is it is a little heavy.

I used this to load my 223/5.56 and my 308 SRP pocket brass. Is amazing that I don’t have to worry about smushing a primer or setting it too deep or too high. The adjusting feature helps to make this process safe and accurate. Additionally, it come with all the brass holders that you need.

So, I got this to help with priming, I purchased this along with the de-primers .Why not? right.. The primer pocket depth lever doesn't really adjust in the sizes it claims too. U r gonna have to have about 4 extra cases to practice the right amount of depth. And ensure, that all ur pockets are uniformed before doing this. but as for speed and accuracy? as soon as ur depth is set, this will assist u in re-loading very fast and the handle is comfortable to boot! well made!
